Mondelez India advances RE goals with Sri City's solar installation

Reinforcing its long- term commitment to sustainability and clean energy, Mondelez India has commissioned a setup of 6.251 MVA captive solar power plant at its Sri City factory. This is one of the largest captive solar plants for Mondelez, globally. This initiative underscores the company’s continued focus on responsible manufacturing and building a greener supply chain.
Developed across 20 acres of land and rooftop space with the panels sourced entirely from Indian manufacturers, the plant is expected to generate 89.4 million units of energy per year and reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 6,400 tons per year. This reduction equates to the environmental benefit of 35,000+ trees.
Speaking about the initiative, Venkat Venepally, Vice President – Supply Chain, Mondelez India, said: "Sustainability is at the core of our operations at Mondelez India. The solar plant at our Sri City factory is a testament of continued focus on responsible growth by integrating renewable energy into our supply chain. This is a step towards building a resilient supply network that supports both business continuity and our long-term environmental goals.”
The solar plant was inaugurated by Ravi Sanna Reddy – MD – Sri City along with Venkat Venepally – Vice President – Supply Chain from Mondelez India. With this step, the company continues to power progress with purpose — creating a more sustainable future for both the people and the planet.
